VACCINE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Autumn / Winter Flu Vaccines

Recommended for:

  • 60 years and older
  • 6 months and older who are at increased risk of influenza related complications
  • 2 to 17 years
  • Healthcare workers
  • Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)
  • Carers and household contacts of people at increased risk of influenza related complications


Autumn / Winter Covid 19 Booster

Recommended for:

  • 60 years and older
  • 6 months and older with a medical condition associated with a higher risk
  • Healthcare workers and pregnant women who are in risk groups
  • NOTE: There should be at least a 3 month interval between the last Covid-19 vaccine or the last Covid-19 infection before being revaccinated


Pneumovax – Pneumonia Vaccine

Recommended for:

  • 65 years and older
  • 2 to 64 years at increased risk
  • 1 or 2 doses may be needed (5 years apart)

Shingrix – Shingles vaccine

Recommended for:

  • 50 years and older;
  • 18 to 49 years at increased risk
  • 2 doses, 2 months apart
  • Cost: €190 per vaccine
  • May be ordered through the practice

Arexvy – Respiratory Syncytial Virus vaccine

Recommended for:

  • 60 years and older
  • 1 vaccine
  • Cost: €210
  • May be ordered through the practice

MMR – Measles vaccine (also includes Mumps and Rubella)

  • Those born after 1978 need to have had 2 vaccines at least 4 weeks apart to be considered fully vaccinated
  • No need to vaccinate if born before 1978 in Ireland
  • Health Care Workers of all ages are eligible
  • Those born outside Ireland if not vaccinated are eligible
